Every student dreams of making their school proud, and Chandra Jyoti Upadhyay from Ramprasad Chandrabhan Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Ramgarh has done just that. A 2013 alumna, she has brought glory to her school and family by securing the 70th rank in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) in her very first attempt.
When asked about her school days, Chandrajyoti smiles as she recalls sneaking around during preparations for special occasions like Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, especially Saraswati Puja, which was always the most special time of the year. The strict discipline of her school, which once felt tough, later became her biggest strength—teaching her time management, focus, and consistency. She fondly remembers Bal Sabha as a platform that encouraged her to speak up and grow with confidence.
Her biggest inspiration has always been her father, who motivated her to pursue civil services. With only a few months of preparation after the JPSC notification, she followed a simple routine—studying 4–6 hours daily (sometimes up to 10 hours during exams) and sticking to trusted resources like Laxmikant for Polity. What really carried her through was her never-give-up spirit. “Time management was the biggest challenge due to the vast syllabus for JPSC, but discipline helped me sail through and manage my time better.” she shares.
For her, the proudest moment was stepping into the school prayer hall once again—not as a student, but as a chief guest. “It was overwhelming. I felt immense gratitude towards my teachers and the Purv Chatra Parishad for honoring me and bringing me back to the vidyalaya parivar,” she says warmly.
Chandrajyoti believes her achievements are not hers alone, but belong equally to her family and loved ones who made countless sacrifices to support her journey. To today’s students, her heartfelt advice is:
1. Stay disciplined and consistent- whatever is the goal, the thing which ultimately matters is how dedicated you are to your goal.
2. Don’t let failures make you doubt yourself or your capabilities,
3. Don’t let success make you lose your humility or overwhelm you.
Beyond studies, she has taught underprivileged children free of cost and enjoys watching intelligence and defense-related web series. Looking ahead, she is determined to serve her state in the best possible way while also preparing for the UPSC exam.
Her journey beautifully reflects the values of Vidya Bharati—discipline, dedication, and service—and stands as an inspiration for every young student who dreams big.
