Vidya Bharati Alumni pays homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a Warrior, Statesman and the Founder of the Maratha Kingdom known for His Valour, Sacrifice and Patriotism, on His Death Anniversary.

The founder of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a legendary hero. Celebrated for his valour, administrative skills and warfare strategies, Shivaji Maharaj is an exemplary leader. He was the first indigenous ruler of medieval India to build his own naval force and led his first full-fledged naval expedition in 1665. He is also known for reviving the Hindu political and courtly traditions. He promoted the usage of Marathi and Sanskrit language in administrative processes instead of the widely used language Persian.

Shivaji fell ill with fever and dysentery in 1680 and passed away on 3rd April at the age of 52.

In remembrance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and as a support toward the nation, let us join the Vidya Bharati Alumni Network.
