Vidya Bharati Alumni pays homage to Rahul Sankrityayan, the Father of Indian Travelogue Travel literature who played a pivotal role to give travelogue a 'literature form', on His Birth Anniversary.

Rahul Sankrityayan, was was universally called Mahapandit, who knew nearly 30 languages but almost always wrote in Hindi. Born on April 9, 1893 as Kedar Pandey in a village in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, Rahul wrote prolifically and penned nearly 140 books, some of which are considered classics even to this day.

He was widely known for his knowledge of Indian history, epigaphy and archaeology. During his extensive travels in Russia and Central Asia, he had realised that one could not understand India’s history without understanding the vital links it had with Central Asia. Later, he also prepared a Tibetan-Hindi dictionary for the Akademi.

In remembrance of Rahul Sankrityayan and as a support toward the nation, let us join the Vidya Bharati Alumni Network.
