Mr. Jai Prakash Meena has been working as an Assistant Professor of Law since 2018. In a recent interview he talked about how important it is for every individual to have basic knowledge laws. A brief extract of the interview has been given below.

Interviewer : Can you give us a brief introduction of your academic and professional background?

Mr. Meena :  I am an alumni of Shankar Lal Dhanuka Senior Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Keshav Vidyapeeth Jamdoli, where I studied from 6th to 10th. Then after completing my schooling, I did a five years law degree, BA.LLB Hon. under Rajasthan University.  I did Master of Laws , LLM from NALSAR University, Hyderabad and also cleared NET examination. Presently I am working as Assistant Professor of Law at University of Delhi from 2018.

Interviewer: Why did you take up law as your chosen field of study and profession?

Mr. Meena :  I have always found law to be a challenging profession and therefore it piqued my interest quite early on in my life. Moreover in current society, knowledge of basic laws has become very necessary. Whether it is corporate law, cyberlaw, civil or criminal law, it is an integral part of our life. The more knowledge you have the more safeguarded you can be from malpractices.

Interviewer: If any Vidya Bharati student would like to study law in the future, what suggestion would you give them?

Mr. Meena :  If a student wants to study this subject, he/she has to decide by the time they complete their 12th examination. In today’s society the profession is considered to be a very noble profession and has a lot of scope. One has to start early, and requires a lot of hard work, but the end result is quite satisfactory. I feel very happy that a lot of youths are showing interest in the subject without being daunted by long years of study.

Interviewer : Please share a few details of your family background.

Mr. Meena :  My family are residents of Jaipur, Rajasthan. My father is a retired gov. servant and my mother is a homemaker. I am the youngest among all my siblings.

Interviewer :  How did your school impact your life so far?

Mr. Meena : My school days are among the most memorable times of my life and equally significant period for my personality development. I used to stay in the hostel and the concepts of discipline and self-reliance have helped me to face a lot of challenges in my personal and professional life. Our principal at that time, Mr. Aman Chowdhry also played an important role in my early life.

Interviewer : Are you associated with any kind of social/ community service?

Mr. Meena : Presently I am focusing on my profession but in the near future I plan to create a team of law students who can help those who cannot afford legal help, free of cost.

Interviewer : Would you like to share any message with the Vidya Bharati students?

Mr. Meena : I would like to advise all students to take their period during schooling very seriously. If you get distracted or misguided  during those formative years, it becomes difficult to come to the right track during later years. No matter what your future plans are, it is necessary to set goals, move towards your aim diligently and work smartly.
