‘Discipline and hard work are stepping stones to success’ - Rashmi Mishra, an alumni from Chhattisgarh and a newly appointed Judge is a prime example of the idology. Recently she took out time for a short interview with Vidya Bharati alumni portal team which has been given below.

Interviewer: Please share with us details about your academic and professional background

Rashmi Mishra: I am an alumni of Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Kunkuri from where I did my schooling till 10th standard and went on to complete 12th from Nirmala Girls School. Afterwards I did my Law degree from MATS University, Chhattisgarh in 2015. Since then I have been preparing to crack the examination to become a Civil Judge. I sat for my examination from Chhattisgarh in 2017, but was unable to clear by a very small margin.  In 2018 I again attempted to clear the examination, this time from UP. I cleared the mains but was unable to clear the interview round. Finally in 2019, I was able to crack the examination from Chhattisgarh . Presently I am undergoing training, before taking up my responsibilities officially.

Interviewer: Why did you decide to become a Judge?

Rashmi Mishra: No one from our family belongs to the legal profession, but one of my father’s friends is in this field. It was a dream of my father that his daughter would become a Judge. I made my father’s dream my own and started preparing to go into this profession. Eventually I developed  a passion for the legal field as well and went after my goal to the best of my ability.

Interviewer: What suggestion would you give to any Vidya Bharati student who wants to follow a similar career path?

Rashmi Mishra: One of the most important things to remember for any Civil Judge aspirant, is that they should be prepared to work extremely hard and have patience. The Competition is tough in this field. One has to have self-confidence and discipline in order to succeed.  Proper coaching from a well known institute can help the aspirant to clear the exams faster,as they can provide necessary guidance. It is also valuable to have a sound knowledge of both hindi and English languages.

The aspirants should be prepared to face the interviews with confidence and confidence comes from a sound knowledge base.

Interviewer:  Tell us something about your family.

Rashmi Mishra: Our family are residents of Jashpur Zilla of Chhattisgarh. My father is a LIC agent. We are three siblings. Two sisters and one brother.

Interviewer: Apart from your work, are you associated with any kind of social work?

Rashmi Mishra: Though till now I was not able to devote much time towards social work, but hope that through my work I can help to bring proper justice to those who have been wronged.

Interviewer: Apart from your studies, what are your hobbies?

Rashmi Mishra: From a young age I have had a variety of interests like sports, dance and singing. I am also a passionate cook as well. All these help me to de-stress in life.

Interviewer: How did your school impact your life?

Rashmi Mishra:  During my school days, our teachers made sure that all of us received a sound academic knowledge base. We were also encouraged to learn the importance of discipline, service and responsibility towards our society. We were provided with appropriate ‘Sanskars’ and taught to speak with respect towards others. I feel that all these have had an impact on the way I think and act and will help me in my career as well. Also due to my schooling I have a good grip on Hindi language which is necessary to work in the lower courts.

Interviewer: Would you like to give any message to Vidya Bharati students and your school?

Rashmi Mishra:  My message is more for the parents. I would like to urge all parents to make sure that your children receive a good education from an early life. Help them to live a disciplined life from the start. It is very important.

In regards to my school I would like to take the opportunity to thank my teachers for their guidance. In future if any student from my school would like to enter the same career field as mine, I would be happy to guide them.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Rashmi Mishra for taking out time from her busy schedule to share her journey with the community. We wish her all the best for her future endeavour.
