An alumnus of  Sri Saraswathi Shishu Mandir EM, Korutla, Telangana, Mr. Manoj Alimilla was highly disheartened when he heard that his childhood school had closed down. He felt that there was a gap left in the education system, after the school's closure and made up his mind to restart it. After facing several hurdles he was able to successfully restart the school and presently holds the post of ‘Prabhandha Karini’

Mr. Manoj Alimilla, is also a dedicated social worker, whose good work has helped to change the lives of many.Recently he shared his experiences via an interviews, which has been given below:

Interviewer :  Please tell us something about yourself.

Mr.Alimilla : I completed  my schooling from Sri Saraswathi Shishu Mandir EM, Korutla. Afterwards  I did my BE degree in computer Science, M.Tech degree in IT  and MBA (HR). I worked in the industry for a while and have recently joined my family business of dealership in Kajaria, Jaquar, Hindware, CRI etc.

Interviewer :  What kind of social work are you associated with?

Mr.Alimilla :  I have been associated with social work since 2001. I started my journey by opening the Vasavi Club’ in our area and becoming a member of the club.

To give you a brief background, the first Vasavi Club was started in 1961  at Hyderabad by Late Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrasena Gupta (K.C.Gupta), a freedom fighter who could be regarded as the "Father of Vasavi Movement". From 1971, Vasavi Club started undertaking service projects like eradication of Pulse Polio, providing educational assistance, giving sewing machines to poor women for their livelihood etc. Slowly the movement gathered steam and the social activities increased manifold to  include Fellowships, Leadership / Personality Development, Education and much more.

My association with Vasavi Club has been highly fruitful. In 2012 I was elected as the Vice President and in 2013, I became the President of the club. By the year 2017 I had become the Governor of v 103 District. During my tenure as a Governor, I have started several new clubs and motivated them to do social services as required in six geographical districts of Telangana.

I was fortunate enough to receive several awards for my work, strengthening my belief that through my work I am being able to positively impact the lives of others. In 2019, I was elected to become the International Additional treasurer.

Along with my work for Vasavi Club, I also try and associate myself with other kinds of social work such as helping students from economically backward families to complete their education, helping poor families to get their girls married, etc.

Interviewer : What made you want to reopen your school?

Mr.Alimilla :  I feel that whatever I am today, is because of my school. I have not only received good education, but also taught good values, morals and the importance of social service.

When I came to know that the school has been closed down, I really felt disheartened by the fact that now the next generation of students in our area will be deprived of the exceptional education that is provided in Vidya Bharati schools.  This realisation led me to take up the responsibility to restart the school.

I had to face several hurdles, but with the help of few other like minded people, the school was reopened, and I feel proud that today it is running successfully and is growing from strength to strength every year.

I really cannot end this conversation without expressing gratitude towards my school for changing my life for the better.

Vidya Bharti Purv Chatra Parishad thanks  Mr. Manoj Alimilla for sharing his valuable thoughts with the community.
