Prayagadhwaj Yadav is an alumni of Maharshi Arvind Vidya Mandir Varishth Madhyamik Vidyalay, Kasia, Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.  The Research Scholar at IIT Kanpur is an avid social worker and associated with several organisations. Recently he shared his journey through an interview, whose extract is as follows:

Interviewer : Prayag, can you tell us something about your academic background?

Prayag :  I did my primary schooling at Saraswati Shishu Mandir Madhopur, Sekhwaniya, Kushinagar till 8th, and then moved to Maharshi Arvind Vidya Mandir Varishth Madhyamik Vidyalaya. After completing my 12th in 2011, I got admitted at ABES Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad for my B Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering. While studying there I got a job at D. P. Garg & Company Private Limited through campus placement in 2015.

Though I had got placed, I wanted to continue my higher education, and in 2016, I joined Madan Mohan Malaviya University Of Technology for my M Tech degree. Presently I am doing my Ph D from Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Kanpur. I am working on a project, Biomedical Robotic Hand under UK India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI),  that can be used for rehabilitation of  stroke  patients, which if successful, will be 1st of its kind in the world.

Interviewer :  What kind of social work are you associated with?

Prayag : I had learnt about the importance of social work at my school and I always look forward to helping others to the best of my capability.  I am a member of an organisation named ‘Madad Seva Sansthan’ that consists of 30 members and funded by local people. The organisation provides free classes to children belonging to local slums. They also provide additional help like  medicine, food and clothing to the underprivileged.

I also volunteer regularly at ‘Prayas’ which is an IIT Kanpur initiative. The organization is mainly focussed on providing free of cost education to the marginalized kids in and around IITK campus. Presently around 400 - 500 children receive education here. Along with education they also receive training in computers, music and sports.

Aside from my social service, I also like to counsel and motivate others, so that each and every person can go after their dreams and achieve success in life.

Interviewer :  Who or what have had the most impact on your life?

Prayag :  I feel that both my family and my school had a hand towards shaping my personality and life. My father, Shri Rajkishor Yadav, who is a retired primary school teacher is my ideal. He is the inspiration behind my inclination towards academics. Also my mother, Smt. Malti Devi has always supported me in every sphere of my life.

Furthermore everyone at my school has also helped to mold my personality for the better. I feel that my academic base is so strong, because of the education that I have received during my school days.

I would like to send my heartfelt thanks to my family, teachers and all those who have helped me in my life’s path and hopefully I will make them proud.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Prayagadhwaj Yadav for sharing his thoughts with the community.
