From a small town in Jharkhand to working in one of the biggest production houses in Mumbai, the journey for Vidya Bharati alumni, Gourav Kumar has been truly adventurous. Recently he shared his life story with Vidya Bharati alumni portal team.

Interviewer: Can you give us a brief account of your academic and professional background?

Mr. Kumar: As you must be aware, I am an alumni of Babulal Nandlal Bohra Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Barharwa where I had studied till class 9. I joined HS High School from where I passed my 10th in the year 2008. I completed 12th from BSK College in the year 2010.

I did graduation in Geology (Hons) from Marwari College in the year 2014 and did post graduation in the same subject from Sahibganj College, Jharkhand in 2016.

Although I completed my higher education in Geology, I felt that I wouldn't be able to develop a good career in the subject, so I travelled to Mumbai in order to study a two year course in Event Management from Amity University, which I completed in the year 2018.

In the competitive world of event management, it is highly necessary to gain as much experience as possible in order to gain a strong foothold. Although I had worked in several companies like Vodaphone, Idea, Uninor etc since I was in class 10, my big break came when I received a job offer from the popular TV show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, which is produced by Salman Khan’s Production House. I have been working there since 2018 as the audience manager for the show.

Interviewer: Kindly tell us something about your family

Mr. Kumar: Originally my family hails from Jharkhand, Barharwa but I stay in Mumbai due to my work here. My  parents and brother stay in Barharwa. My father runs his own business in our hometown.

Interviewer: Are you associated with any kind of social work?

Mr. Kumar:  Being a Vidya Bharati alumni, I am well aware of my social responsibilities. Although I don't get enough time for social work, I try and participate in blood donation camps regularly.

Interviewer: Would you like to share any message with the Vidya Bharati community?

Mr. Kumar: Coming from a small town like mine and following dreams in a big city like Mumbai is hard work and the path is littered with road blocks. Both hard work and knowledge are necessary to succeed and I was fortunate enough to learn the importance of both from a very young age from my school and teachers. I am thankful to them for their patient guidance and teaching me all the crucial life lessons that proved invaluable in my journey towards my dream.

Vidya Bharati purv Chatara Parishad thanks Mr. Gourav Kumar for sharing his life experiences with the Vidya Bharati community.
