The National Family Health Survey (NFHS-4) suggests that 30% of women in India in the age group of 15-49 have experienced some form of physical violence in their life. According to Crime in India 2016 report by National Crime Records Bureau, as many as 39 crimes against women are reported every hour in India. Gender specific crimes against women contribute to about 10% of all crimes reported. Alarmingly every day we get to hear some news about rape, kidnapping, molesting, domestic violence, trafficking etc against the female population.
