This is a deadly global pandemic. Every country is caught in its own problems, every man for himself. But there are a band of people who are going above and beyond to gather information for us.  While thousands of employees work from home during the pandemic, the journalists head to their studios, newsrooms or out to the field.

Young Yogesh Kumar, who works for a local YouTube News Channel – CG FIRST NEWS, leaves his home every day early in the morning to collect stories. He has to often travel to remote areas to meet people and gather information. “Since I work for a news channel, I am often required to meet a lot of people. I capture their stories on my mobile and then I write the news story and send it to the editor”, mentioned Yogesh.

Yogesh is an alumnus of Saraswati Shishu Mandir Borsi. After completing his 10th he joined a school in Nutan, Chhattisgarh and studied science in 12th class. Due to financial crisis at home, Yogesh could not continue his further studies. “I had to start working after completing my 12th class. My father is a farmer and it was difficult for my family to support my further education”, mentioned Yogesh, who plans to complete his graduation through a distance learning in future.

The job offer to work as an audio visual journalist came to Yogesh at a time when he was looking for work. “I met the editor of CG FIRST NEWS and he offered me to work for the channel”, mentioned Yogesh. He further adds, “It was a great opportunity for me as CG FIRST NEWS is a popular 24-hour Hindi news channel of Chhattisgarh. It brings out the most credible current affairs, politics and naxal issues in the state”.

Through his work, Yogesh tries to make a difference in the society by highlighting the issues which are important and affect the lives of the people. “Hundreds of people expect us to be around, watching, reporting, editing, recording this for posterity, blowing the whistle on injustices and tell their stories”, shared Yogesh.
