Sreeram Mohan, an alumnus of Vyasa Vidya Peethom, in Palakkad of Kerala remembers growing up learning from his school to always prioritize national and social development in life. Furthermore, the teaching of great men like Swami Vivekananda and Madhav Golwalkar Ji left a lasting impression on his young mind.

Now working as a manager in Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, Sreeram is involved with several social activities. He  is the founder of ‘Karyanvayan’, an organization which aims to develop the region near Jamshedpur by providing education, skill development and job opportunities to the local population, belonging to economically weaker strata of the society.

One of the target beneficiaries of the organisation is children, belonging to the slum areas of the region. Till now 34 needy children have been enrolled in government schools through ‘Karyanvayan’. The children are further provided with educational kits like school bags, books, shoes and uniforms to ensure that they feel encouraged to continue their education. Impressed by the great work done by Sreeram, MLA of Jamshedpur, Shri Saryu Roy, gifted books to the children as further encouragement.

Sreeram is also closely associated with the developmental work related to tribal population of Jharkhand.

The state of Jharkhand has as much as 32 Schedule Tribes inhabiting in the region and  holds 6th rank in terms of tribal population in the country. With their limited source of income from traditional farming, most of the tribal people struggle to meet their ends. In order to assist the tribal artisans to fetch better income, Sreeram helps them to sell their products online to a larger customer base through ‘6thYard’, a platform currently hosted on Instagram. Via this platform, customers can directly buy the products from the artisans themselves, thus eliminating middlemen.

Jharkhand currently ranks lowest in many of the human development index in the country and Sreeram aims to solve the issue by exploring ways to impart value education and skill training to the youth of Jharkhand.

Sreeram hopes to bring sustainable change in the lives of the people in the area through revamping education, generating opportunity, and creating unity.

It is heartening to see Vidya Bharati alumni members such as Sreeram working dedicatedly towards betterment of our country.
