Sanskrit is one the most ancient languages of the world and is universally recognized as the language containing the earliest literature in the world. It holds a treasure trove of knowledge, literature, cultural values and ancient traditions of India. Many Indian languages and few languages of neighbouring countries borrow heavily from Sanskrit. When the world is waking up to its importance and taking deep interest in its study, our country is sadly losing touch with it with progressing generations. Along with the language we are also losing touch with our rich cultural heritage and ancient way of life.

Sri Alankar Sharma, Vidya Bharati alumni from Braj is fighting to keep the tradition alive among the younger generations. Recently he talked about his work via an interview, whose brief account has been given below.

Interviewer: Can you share your academic and professional background with us?

Mr. Sharma:  I am an alumni of Seth Dharampal Mehra Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Agramarg, Hathras. Later I did my Inter college from PBAS Inter college and BSc in mathematics from Saraswati Degree College which is affiliated to  ‎Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University. I have a MSc degree in Computer Science from  Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, which I had passed in 2012.

I have a working experience of more than 13 years and presently I am working as ‘Manager Program Management’ at Publicis Sapient, Noida

Interviewer: You have been associated with several social works. Please tell us more about your them and what influenced you to take them up?

Mr. Sharma:  Since our school days we have studied the importance of social service and upholding our cultural integrity.  So I have been associated with some or the other kind of social work since childhood, but I have been actively involved in it for the past 3 years.

I run from home classes known as ‘Sanskrit-Sanskriti Shikshan’, where I teach Sanskrit 'slokas', 'mantras' and 'puranic 'stories to the kids. I try to imbue them with the rich cultural heritage of our country which I think is an integral part of overall development of their personality. One of the highlighting moments came when it was featured in ISRN List of Social works (Indian Social Responsibility Network) released by the Vice President Mr. Naidu. I also run ‘Kartikeya Shakha Sewa Karya’ which promotes ‘Gurukul’ mode of education as well as focus on other social projects, especially during the present Covid 19 pandemic.

I am also in the Managing committee of ‘Pt. Baijnath Sharma Prachya Vidya Shodh Sansthan’, which is a registered trust and an Educational Research Center in Hathras. I am also an editor of the research magazine, ‘Prachya Manjusha’.

Thus whatever free time that I get from work, I dedicate it fully towards social work, education and promotion of our cultural heritage.

Interviewer: Tell us something about your school and how has it impacted your life so far?

Mr. Sharma:  As I have mentioned earlier that the very seed of ‘Sanskar’ and ‘Sanskriti ‘ was sowed in us by our school. The way I think and act is heavily influenced by the values that I learned as a student.

Interviewer: Would you like to share any message with the Vidya Bharati community?

Mr. Sharma: The only thing that I would like to remind all students is that, It's easy to earn a living but what we can do is work on our passion and support our society so that more kids could be raised like us, with great faith and confidence in our Indian culture.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Sri Alankar Sharma for sharing his inspirational work with the community.
