Vidya Bharati alumni, Santosh Dangi gets selected to participate in 'Khelo India Youth Games' 2020

On 31 January 2018, Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, declared open the inaugural Khelo India  with the aim of giving a boost to young Indian athletes. The annual games under Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, are held in two categories

  • Under-17 years for school students 

  • Under-21 years for college students.

Every year best 1000 youths are to be  given an annual scholarship of INR 5,00,000 for 8 years to prepare them for the international sporting events.

Judo player Santosh Dangi an alumnus of Sarswati Vidhya Mandir Bharatgarh Dati, Madhya Pradesh got selected for the third edition of ‘Khelo India’ that is to be held in Guwahati, Assam in January 2020.

This is not the first time that Santosh is participating in national level sports. He started practicing judo since the age of 5 and participated in numerous competitions from a very young age. While studying in school he participated in regional, state and national level competitions organised by Vida Bharti, winning gold at each and every level. His dedication and talent soon helped him to get selected to compete in national level 65th SGFI (School Games Federation of India)  held in Gujarat in November 2019. He competed in the Under 17 boys Judo category, securing 5th rank overall.

Santosh’s father Shri Rajendra Dangi, is a farmer by profession. In spite of  financial constraints, Santosh had the full support of his family. The teachers in his school also encouraged him to hone his skills further.

Presently the talented boy with never die attitude is busy preparing for the upcoming challenge under the able guidance of  his coach Shivendra Parmar.
