Every year thousands of Indian Civil Service aspirants sit for the examinations. For some it is the dream of a better and secure future for oneself, for others it’s the prestige that cracking the exams brings, but for few it is the wish to see a better India.

No matter what the aim, the exams are not easy to go through. It takes dedication, sound knowledge, and patience and iron determination. Stings of failure often makes the best of the candidates to opt out and in search for an easier goal.

This year several of Vidya Bharati alumni have managed to secure top ranks in UPSC examinations, who look forward to serving their country and intend to bring positive changes in our country. One such success story is that of Mr. K Aman Chandran from Kerala.

Mr. Chandran hails from Palakkad, Kerala and his family consists of his father, mother and brother. He is an alumni of Vyasa Vidya Peethom, Kallakked, Palakkad, where he had studied from 2007 to 2012 (classes 7 to 12). He did his graduation from College of Engineering, Trivandam in B Tech (Electrical and Electronics Engineering).

He has always wanted to serve his country through Civil service, but took a deeper interest in it during his college days. Chandran was an avid reader and spent a lot of his time reading in libraries about national and international news and policies. The subjects interested him a lot and he felt that he had a good aptitude for civil services. His friends and family also supported his belief.

In 2018 he sat for his first UPSC examination, but was unable to pass the interview stage. Without giving up, he again attempted to clear the exam in 2019, and was successful in his second attempt, securing a rank of 197.

Speaking about Vyasa Vidya Peethom, Chandran said that he has only fond memories of his school. He thanked the teachers for always being supportive and guiding him during his school days. He felt that his school days were one of the most formative years of his life. The culture, discipline, alongside good academics has had a great impact on his life as he feels that it is the accumulation of all experiences that shapes the personality of an individual. His school also instilled in him the sense of social and national service in him.

As a parting message to all UPSC aspirants, he said that the most important aspect of success is to never give up and have faith in one’s own abilities. It is crucial to aim for the sky and never look back.
