Dr. Deepthi is an alumni of Vyasa Vidya Peethom, Kallekkad, Palakkd, Kerala. Recently she passed from Thrissur Medical College, ranking first at the University level. She shared her story with Vidya Bharati alumni portal team via a brief interview, as given below.

Interviewer: Dr. Deepthi, first of all congratulations on your amazing academic achievement. Can you please tell us about your academic journey so far?

Dr. Deepthi: Thank you. As for my academic background I have been an alumni of Vidya Bharati for my entire school life. I started my educational journey with Sree Mookambika Vidya Niketan, Palakkd, where I completed my primary education and then shifted to Vyasa Vidya Peethom to complete my schooling. After giving my 12th board examination, I got admitted to Government Medical College, Thrissur, where I have just passed my exam with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Interviewer: Why did you choose to go into the medical profession?

Dr. Deepthi: For the past ten year or so I had only one aim, which is to serve society through the medical profession. I never thought of pursuing any other profession. I can still remember that when I was in class six or so, I told everyone that I wanted to become a doctor and nothing else crossed my mind. Luckily my parents and my teachers were always supportive towards my ambition.

Interviewer: What are your future plans?

Dr. Deepthi: I would prefer to serve at Governmental hospitals, so I will be trying out at nearby governmental facilities.

Interviewer: How was your experience at Vidya Bharati schools?

Dr. Deepthi: First of all I am extremely thankful to all my teachers, since my preschool to class 12. Whatever I am today is due to their blessings. They have not only imparted education, but also taught the values of life. Me and my elder sister, who is also a Vidya Bharati alumni are extremely close to all our teachers and are in contact with them still. Our teachers always prayed for our success before our exams. The relationship goes beyond just educational exchange. They are a part of our family. In fact all my teachers attended my wedding to bless me. I am very lucky to have received the opportunity to learn from them.

Interviewer: Can you tell us something about your family background?

Dr. Deepthi: My father used to work abroad and now has settled here after retirement. My mother is a higher secondary teacher in a Government school here in Kerala. My sister is already married and has her own family. She completed M Tech and works at IBM in Bangalore. My husband, Dr. Vivek is a physician and presently working in Kerala.

Interviewer: Apart from your profession, are you involved in any other kind of social work?

Dr. Deepthi: As our college is a government hospital, there are lots of patients who are needy and all of us try to help them out as much as possible. Apart from that my family is involved with a charity, where we donate during special occasions.

Vidya Bharati Purv Chatra Parishad thanks Dr. Deepthi for taking out time and sharing her story with the community. We wish her all the best for all her future endeavours.
