According to Economic Survey 2019-2020, the doctor to patient ratio in India is 1:1456 against the WHO recommendation of 1:1000. Hence India already faces a severe crunch of licensed medical practitioners and on top of the present global pandemic, many are losing their lives while working in the line of duty. Although there has been a steady increase in the number of medical colleges, still our healthcare facilities need to be strengthened further. In such a scenario each and every young doctor is an asset for the nation.

Vishnu Jinja, Vidya Bharati alumnus from Jaipur, is one such hardworking young doctor, who goes beyond his call of duty and serves the society unconditionally. In an interview with Vidya Bharati alumni portal team he shared his journey.

Interviewer: Can you share with us your academic and professional background?

Vishnu : I am an alumni of Sharda Bal Niketan Sec. School, after which I have done my MBBS in Gauhati medical college and hospital under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences and just recently started my internship there as well.

Interviewer:  As a doctor you are doing great service to your society, but apart from that are you associated with any other social work?

Vishnu : Yes , I'm a member of the National Medicos Organisation (NMO) which works with health service to nation service. I have been associated with them for more than three years now.  It’s main aim is to help the underprivileged of our society. It organizes regular health camps and health awareness drives.

Interviewer: Has Vidya Bharati impacted your life in any way?

Vishnu : Yes, without any doubt. It has helped me to understand the true meaning of “Desh Prem” and how it is the responsibility of each of the citizens to work towards the development of one’s county without any selfish motives.

Interviewer: Would you like to share any message with the students?

Vishnu: Vidya Bharati is a best place to get a complete education and not just the academic aspect. You will develop a research oriented mind set along with learning the importance of our culture. So it is important to follow the principles that you learn in your schools throughout your life.

Vidya Bharati Alumni portal team thanks Vishnu Jinja for taking out time from his busy schedule and talking about his journey. We wish him all the best in his noble endeavours.
