Buddhi Prakash Gurjar starts EF Polymer Pvt. Ltd with the aim of transforming Indian agriculture

Vidya Bharati alumni, Buddhi Prakash Gurjar belongs to an agricultural family from Rajastan. He has grown up experiencing at first hand the problems faced by the farmer community, in the drier regions of India, like Rajastan. Later on, his early life experiences  inspired him to launch his own startup to help the community from where belonged, earning him several awards and international recognition.

Buddhi Prakash Gurjar hails from a village in Peeplu subdivision of Rajasthan and is the ex student Saraswati Vidya Mandir School Newai Tonk Rajasthan. After completion of his schooling he went on to do his B.tech (Information Technology) from College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur, Rajasthan. While studying in college, he along with few of his like minded friends developed an environmental water retaining natural polymer from bio waste, which has the capability to maintain moisture in the soil for long periods when used in dry and barren soil, thus reducing water consumption while increasing agricultural yield. The innovative technology has the added advantage of being biodegradable and increasing the nutrient content of the soil while breaking down.

His innovation earned him international recognition from Japan government, as well as the University of Okinawa and his story was covered by several newspapers. This gave him the further impetus to start his own startup company, ‘EF Polymer Pvt. Ltd’ along with his five member team.

Gurjar’s company is now looking to expand its business in India, as well as international market. The Polymer produced by the company, known as ‘FASAL AMRIT’ is eco friendly, cost effective and increases crop production without the need to use artificial fertilizers. The company's excellent work in the field of agriculture has earned Gurjar and his team 5 national and 6 international awards.

Along with running his own company, Gurjar has been associated with social service since his school days and  for the past four years, focused his attention towards solving the problems plaguing the farming community of India. His company recently selected 100 farmers from different states and provided them with free polymer, increasing their agricultural yield and thus in turn increasing their profit margin. He also plans to select one village and turn it into a ‘smart village’ in future and has started working on the same.

Gurjar says that he always wanted to make a name for himself in the field of engineering and gives him immense pleasure that he was able to merge together his passion to help others and his dream to make a mark in his chosen field, through his profession. He further goes on to state that he had to overcome severe economic problems in his journey towards achieving his dream and feels happy that he has been able to make his father proud through his work.

Gurjar expressed his gratitude towards his school for providing him with excellent education along with developing his interest in social service.
